Groundbreaking research has revealed a concerning disparity in maternal mortality rates in the United States, with black women experiencing significantly higher rates. This crucial information sheds light on an urgent issue that demands attention and action.


The research was published by the CDC in 2023 after research that started in 2018.


The maternal mortality rate for 2021 was 32.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, compared with a rate of 23.8 in 2020 and 20.1 in 2019.
